Shall the following be adopted?

Shall a City General Purpose Retailers' Sales Tax in the amount of one-quarter of one percent (.25%) be levied in the City of Bonner Springs, Kansas, pursuant to the authority granted in K.S.A. 12-187, such general purpose sales tax will be a portion of the total retailer' sales tax of one and three-fourths percent (1.75%) which will be levied by the City upon passage of this proposition, with such tax to be used for the general operational needs of the City to provide additional revenue as required to provide an adequate level of public services within the City. Such levy of tax to remain in effect for an indefinite period with collection to begin upon the repeal date of the current City Public Library Special Purpose tax of one-quarter percent (.25%) established by Ordinance No. 2147

Getting a ballot

All active registered voters in Bonner Springs who are registered on or before March 14, 2016 will automatically receive a ballot in the mail. If you register after March 14, but before the registration deadline on March 22, you will need to apply for a ballot using the application for replacement mail ballot form. The form must be submitted no later than April 8, 2016. Click here for the form

Election calendar

February 26, 2016: Begin mailing ballots to military personnel and overseas civilians.

March 14, 2016: All Bonner Springs residents registered to vote on or before today will automatically receive a ballot by mail approximately 20 days before Election Day.

March 22, 2016: Last day to register to vote before election. If you register after March 14, but before March 22, you will need to apply for a ballot. One will not be mailed to you automatically.

March 23, 2016: Ballots delivered to post office for initial mailing.

April 8, 2016: Last day to mail replacement ballots.

April 12, 2016: Election Day - All ballots must be returned to the office by noon.
